Garage Door Sensor Repair in Sanibel

If the door starts down and reverses, or the opener light blinks and nothing happens, the safety sensors are the first thing we check.

The Opener Is Doing Its Job

The two small sensors near the floor send an invisible beam across the doorway. If it is blocked or the sensors cannot see each other, the opener refuses to close the door.

The cause can be as simple as a bumped bracket or as stubborn as a corroded wire hidden along the wall.

Sensor Trouble Signs

  • Door reverses right away

The door starts closing, then goes back up.

  • Blinking opener light

Many openers flash to report a sensor fault.

  • Sensor light off or flickering

One sensor has lost power or alignment.

  • Works only when held

The door closes only while you hold the wall button.

How We Fix Sensors

  1. 1

    Check alignment

Both sensors are leveled and aimed at each other.

  2. 2

    Test the wiring

Wires are checked for breaks, staples and corrosion.

  3. 3

    Replace if needed

Failed sensors are swapped for compatible units.

  4. 4

    Safety test

We confirm the door reverses when the beam is broken.

Sensor Questions

Can I bypass the safety sensors?

No. They are a required safety feature that stops the door from closing on people, pets and cars.

Why do my sensors fail in the afternoon?

Direct sun shining into a sensor can blind it. Swapping the sides or adding a shade usually solves it.

Door Will Not Stay Closed?

Sensor problems are usually a quick fix.
